Hello Friends!
My name is Rhonda & I am the owner of Rustic Home Treasures. I started out in April 2018 as an online store. It was a slow learning experience and took a few years to get it going, but with my supportive family & friends, my dream started to become a reality.
I've always, always, always wanted to own my own business. I've done so many of the home party, direct sales blah blah, but nothing really stuck. I thought about a Cracker Barrel type of business, but that was definitely a dream at the time. I was thinking I needed some sort of business that I could run even with having a full time job. So I started a subscription box business. Ray Jay's Country Crate. Everything I love was included in the box. A craft kit (got me crafting again), a recipe (I love to cook), little home decorating goodies, & a snack. I myself as well as so many others, love getting little surprises. Unfortunately it didn't last as long as I wanted, but would like to bring it back. I really enjoyed putting them together. Definitely a learning experience.
I do want to share something with you...for those of you thinking about starting a business. Do not let anyone discourage you from following your dream. You never know until you try. There will always be someone trying to talk you out of it or critiquing your every move. I brought a "sample" box to my work to show off. I had showed a local businesswoman & her husband my sample box to see what her thoughts were. She is always so nice & bubbly when she comes in, I thought she would be perfect. Well, I was wrong. You would've thought I put a pile of garbage in front of her. She didn't say a word & was sorting threw it like it had goo all over it. I was so upset. I felt like someone just punched me in the gut. She barely said anything about it & what she did say wasn't very nice. I can take some criticism or advice, but this, I felt insulted. I let her get into my head & my confidence diminished. I tried and tried to push past it all, but found myself constantly thinking about it. Needless to say, I didn't put my heart & soul into it, therefore it failed.
Not giving up...wanting to own my own business. I'm going to make something happen. April 19th, 2018 I started Rustic Home Treasures. I was determined. Started out online. Was kind of slow, so I did some vendor shows & house parties. Tried getting my name out there. It made me so happy to see how the people were loving the products I was selling. My confidence was building back up. It was December 7th 2020 when a dear friend of mine brought tears to my eyes & gave me the hope I needed to help make my dream become a reality. I set up as a vendor at
my friends boutique. I asked her for some guidance, some advice, before I could go any farther...she said, "why don't you just set up here?" My daughter got to share the excitement with me which made it even more special. I have a room, my own little store. I still have to work my full time job. I am so appreciative & grateful. My business was growing & my customers were happy. I had a goal set in mind where I wanted to be with RHT in 1,2,3,4 + years. We will see what the next 4 + years bring.
I'm starting this blog to share with you some decorating tips (with the products I sell), party planning, & menu planning. Along with everything else I can think of to write about lol.
Rustic Home Treasures is everything I love, hobby wise of course. My family is my #1.
~I love to decorate, always finding new ways & things to decorate with, especially during the holidays.
~I love to party plan. I have helped decorate & plan 3 weddings including my own. Baby showers, bridal showers, birthday parties & countless home parties. I'm usually the host for the holidays & have parties at my house all of the time. Bringing friends & family together & enjoying themselves puts a smile on my face. Hostess with the Mostess as they always say.
~I love to craft, but unfortunately don't have the time to do it. I used to have craft parties at my house years ago. I have friends that still talk about it & wish I would do them again. Who knows maybe someday. I had a subscription box business for a little while that included a craft kit, home decor items, a snack, recipe & a few other goodies. Would definitely like to bring that back minus the craft kit. Who knows, we will see. My wheels are always turning lol.
~I love to cook. Even though I really don't sell anything that can be used in cooking. I do sell kitchen decor & items to serve food on or in & for hosting & entertaining. My love for cooking kind of intertwines with the party planning. Always finding different food ideas to go with the party theme.
I hope you find RHT Chit Chat to be helpful, useful, & enjoyable. I appreciate & welcome all questions, comments, compliments & concerns. Thank you for taking the time to read. It truly means a lot to me.
Love,
Rhonda
